In My Life the Movie

Me and my boyfriend was really excited to watch the movie “In My Life” starring John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano and the Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos. Together with our close friend Lance, as early as 10am we were in SM Cebu. The movie is really good. At first when the trailer came out I really though that it would be a big time Gay Movie but I was wrong. I even though that there would be a hot bed scene or even a very torrid-saliva-exchange kiss but I was really wrong. The start of the movie was — I would say boring. It was a very typical opening scene when it comes to Filipino movies but I was very funny. It starting to get very interesting when Noel (John Lloyd Cruz) and Mark (Luis Manzano) came into the scene and says that they are getting married. Over all the movie is great!! I was really touch and cried because I was able to relate what the two are going through to keep their relationship. I was really fascinated by the acting of John Lloyd and Luis in this movie. They really made me believe that they are really a couple. You really can tell that they are just asking it seems that they are really together. Even if there was no hot bed scene or torrid kisses but I was really killig every time they are together. It seems that there is something between the two of them that connects and made me believe. I hope they win awards in this movie!!

Synopsis

Shirley (Vilma Santos) is a woman who wants to be in control of everything. Working as a librarian in a public school, a firm “Sshhh!” from her makes the students tremble in fear. But in her family, her unwarranted intervention in the lives of her children and their families keeps her emotionally detached from them. Realizing that she has lost the command she once had, she goes to New York to reunite with Mark (Luis Manzano), her estranged gay son who is now suffering from colon cancer.

But Shirley doesn’t know this and living with Mark in New York comes with a cost. She has to live with her son’s lover Noel (John Lloyd Cruz) who is an illegal immigrant. Whenever Mark is not around, Noel makes it a point to tour her around as he tries his best to endure Shirley’s degrading behavior on him.

Everything is going right until circumstances forces Shirley to go back to the Philippines. Now that she’s back with her family, she realizes that something is wrong – she is not happy. For once in her life, she finally comes to a brave decision that will bring her real happiness.

======================

Like I’ve said it was not a big time Gay Movie. The movie was about Love, Family and true struggles in life. The gay scenes was just a add spice to the story but never was the big scenes. There wasn’t even a French Kiss between Noel and Mark. I was really sock by the twist of the story. I was really hoping for a happy ending or even a more painful ending but no I was instant death. I can’t see myself and my boyfriend would end the way Noel and Mark did. The movie was really touching and give me and my boyfriend hope.

Two thumps up to the movie!! I would recommend you to watch the movie!

I just wish that they would make a movie that is truly about Gay people here in the Philippines. Not just about gays sucking straight guys on the street but how gay couples struggle to be accepted by their family and or people around them.
